HEAVEN IS FOR HEALING
A Soul’s Journey After Suicide – Joseph Gallenberger, Ph.D.
Heaven is for Healing is not your ordinary, everyday book. But, it is exactly the story that we all need to hear. In an extraordinary account of soul connections and everlasting love, Dr. Joseph Gallenberger sheds new light on coping with the loss of a loved one to suicide. Powerful and compelling, his true story will touch your heart in so many ways, carrying you to a new understanding of life and love. I absolutely love Heaven is for Healing, and I know you will too.
— Paul Elder, Author of Eyes of an Angel
When his beloved brother Peter committed suicide, psychotherapist Dr. Joe Gallenberger met his overwhelming grief with courage and open-minded curiosity. Using tools learned at The Monroe Institute, and affirming that “love can pierce any veil”: he was soon able to contact Peter on the other side. Joe’s experience on how to move through devastating loss in a transformational way, and what he learned about the other side, were shared in Joe’s acclaimed book, Brothers Forever.
Heaven is for Healing envelops and expands upon this, taking up the story twenty years later. He reveals Peter’s two-decade journey on the other side, and how Peter, with the most loving assistance, has progressed in healing from his suicide and how he is moving into new options for a next life. He explores the variety of ways suicides are helped to recover and then continue their growth, depending upon their condition when they arrive on the other side.
Joe also shares how this family crisis challenged him over these twenty years. He describes his own struggles with depression, and of how he rose from grief and made it his life’s work to help other people live their lives to their fullest potential. He shares the tools he has created to move people from sadness and limitation into abundance and joy.

“Who knew the benefits that would accrue. Friday night I received news that my second sister had died. While the forensics are still out, the indications are that she died at her own hand. She plunged into a deep depression in November and simply wasn’t able to pull herself out, she had had enough. No one was prepared for this, who could be. But having read your book was indeed a blessing that continues to help me, us, process the event. Thank you so much for that stroke of Grace!”

“A piercing but achingly beautiful exploration of suicide and an inquiry into what happens after death. While many religions profess that the soul of those who commit suicide are eternally damned, the author comes to the conclusion that all death eventually leads to light. No life is wasted; no life is lost. A must-read for those whose lives have been touched by suicide as well as for those who would delve further into what happens to our souls when we die.”
— Nancy Nelson, Editor, www.morethanpassingstrange.com
“When a clinical psychologist and consciousness pioneer reaches within himself, while also seeking spiritual guidance, to uncover the deeper meaning of a loved one’s suicide — the result is a sensitive, heartfelt exploration of realms that most of us can only imagine. If you accept the existence of an afterlife, this book offers rich details — consistent with spiritualist traditions — regarding the evolution of the soul. Even if you are in doubt or disbelief, Dr. Gallenberger’s account remains an honest and penetrating effort to grapple with some of the deepest wounds life can offer. I highly recommend this book.”
— Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD Host and Producer, New Thinking Allowed video channel
“Personally, this book helped me tremendously in better coping with and understanding the depression and ultimate suicide of a friend. It deeply expanded my beliefs about suicide, what happens to the person who chooses death by suicide and to the loved ones left behind. Reading this book, I cried and laughed, and emerged at the end with hope and understanding that there is no eternal damnation as a result of suicide, that heaven is indeed for healing everyone, regardless of how they died. The second part of the book provides useful tools on how to connect with departed loved ones and how to create a meaningful and joyful life, despite our loss. Joe Gallenberger is a gifted and eloquent writer, making this book a page-turner.”
— Andrea Berger, Trainer, President, Association for Consciousness Evolution
“Joe Gallenberger offers perceptive insights and comforting support to those who have experienced the death of a loved one through suicide. He also gives hope to anyone who might be contemplating taking their own life, sharing his own story of how he has explored the spectrum from “suicide to salvation.” A longtime program trainer and friend of The Monroe Institute, Joe writes about losing his beloved brother to suicide, and then shares channeled material which gave him contact with his brother, and a greater understanding about how all death leads to light.”
— Nancy H. McMoneagle, President & Executive Director, The Monroe Institute
“Gallenberger knows, first-hand, what suicide does to survivors. But Heaven is for Healing goes well beyond advice for coping. It shows that suicides receive assistance after the fact, so that even death becomes only one more stage of life. This book should be a great help to those dealing with the grief, shame, guilt, and helplessness that a suicide leaves in its wake.”
— Frank DeMarco, author of many books, including Rita’s World and Rita’s World Vol. II
“The proverb, “Physician, heal thyself” is explored at the most profound levels in Heaven Is For Healing. Thank you Joe, for allowing us into your deep personal and private spaces that most people are afraid to admit even exist, much less explore and sharing the results in such a brilliant and loving manner.”
— J. R. Madaus, author of Think Logically, Live Intuitively: Seeking The Balance
“Heaven is for Healing is a beautiful love story of two brothers, Pete and Joe, and the deep pain associated with the loss of one through suicide. Joe’s search for meaning is expressed beautifully in this book and will be a comfort to anyone dealing with grief from a suicide or death of a loved one. Thank you Joe for your willingness to be so open and vulnerable.”
